More stories than can fit in a novel...

Darcia is a large expansive world and there are more heroes with more stories. In these stories I will explore characters and places that did not receive their fair share of attention in the main novels. Most will be linked to an event, character or lore reference in the core books but I probably won't limit myself to just that.

As the stories are completed, they will be shared here and perhaps one day, others could share their interpreation of events, characters, and their own stories set in the times, places, and world of Darcia.

A Murder in the Fog

A West Docks Whodunnit!

Set in Gaelin's Port a few years before the events in Mouse vs the Pirate Slavers. This novella sized story delves deeper into the stories of two characters who played minor roles in the larger story.

Abbi is seventeen and wonders what she will do with her life. She grew up on the streets and if not for the Sisters of Asune, who knew what trouble she would have got into? She didn't get to go through the Trials training like the Kallish kids but, instead, survived a much harder school.

Her life changed the day she found a body floating in the harbour and reported it to Corporal "Handsome" Hanson of the City Guard. Little did she know how that would lead to a mystery and something hidden and dark in the local aristocracy and, to her surprise, a new path for herself.

Brugart's Redemption

An almost novella sized story set immediately after the events in Mouse vs the Beast Overlords in the eastern lands of what was the Beast Hegemony.

Brugart, the honourable Brau Battalion Commander, is tasked with cleaning up the Pirate Towns on the coast. News that more prisoners, escaped followers, and dangerous assets of the defeated Dark Sorcerer are to be found there had come to light. Brugart will lead a combined army of Brau, Kallish and Scathian tribesfolk, and supported by troops from the High Kingdom to pacify the region and rid the northeast of what remains of the sorcerer's blight.

Some Brau are still in denial about their complicity in the Dark Sorcerers plots. Brugart has realised that loyalty to the clan and following a superior's orders did not absolve his people of their guilt or role in the wholesale abductions of children from all over the continent.

Talia and Garet are both along and leading their own brigade sized commands. Will they finally do something about all of those looks they had been exchanging?

Abducted!

Set in Gaelin's Port during the events of Mouse vs the Beast Overlords. The three person Brau assassin/scout teams mentioned in the book's opening chapter have reached Gaelin's Port and abducted young Gaen Wellfleet from his bed in the palace!

Other than some militia, retirees, and his navy, Duke Wil has few resources to draw upon to rescue his ward. The forty-seven year old Duke will have to don his own armour and ask some of his retired friends to do the same. As they are about to depart, his niece, Lady Callienne shows up with an old childhood friend in tow. Sir Jamie Westron, a Knight of Palladan just arrived in the city, and his men at arms.

Together they set off after the most dangerous trained fighters and assassins in the world to rescue Gaen!

Awakening

Little Cal has grown into a tall strong and athletic young man. He is bigger than his brother and cousin, and they are more careful about teasing him now. He has become a magnet for boys and girls alike but for him, there has only been Prisa. Prisa and Furball.

Along with his physical strength, his power has grown too and had done so in an unexpected direction. He is the son of generations of fishers but has a growing affinity for animals and not the family traits of fish sense and navigation.

Cal's affinity and power is so strong, he and Gaen, discover a way to use it as an advantage in the mounted Kallish Foot Ball games. Both are honourable young men and discolse their ability to the leagues governors and that sparks a debate. This all compounds Cal's problems with the girls and boys, as he and Gaen are allowed to use their ability and become football superstars!

This story is set in Gaelin's Port several years after Mouse vs the Beast Overlords and a year or two prior to the events in Mouse vs the Taanic Masters.

The Highborn Conspiracy

This story is set in Gaelin's Port the year after the events of Mouse vs the Beast Overlords. Mouse visits Gaelin's Port for the summer with his sister Asira and cousin Casan. Danica's family are newly arrived in the region and asettled in the Oros Valley, Danica's seat in the north east. While the adults are busy, the kids have a summer in the city to acclimate to this new country.

Of course Mouse cannot visit Gaelin's Port without getting into something. Mouse and his crew, Asira, Casan, Kip, the brothers Hep and Cal, a litte furry creature the dolphin's call mischeif makers, Prisa, Mae, and Gaen stumble upon a mystery. A conspiracy against the reforms of Duke Wil, and they do what twelve-fourteen year olds normally do when they find villians, they get involved!
